Residing in Hong Kong and inspired by his native Australia, Simon J Nicol combines serious technical craftsmanship with a playful spirit in his approach as a commercial, corporate and editorial photographer and filmmaker. Hailing from Melbourne’s creative hub of Fitzroy, Simon has established a reputation in the retail, architectural, hotel, food and beverage and fashion spheres, bringing his trained eye to complex subject matter that requires a dedicated approach. Drawing on fine art, architecture, design, music and fashion, he brings both a refined aesthetic sensibility and an indomitable, can-do spirit to the advertisement campaigns, portraiture, commercial and editorial projects that he has worked on. In 2005, Simon had his first solo exhibition at the Fitzroy gallery Dear Patti Smith, which he co-founded.
